Planning your Pride celebrations 2021

Planning your Pride celebrations 2021

After the year we’ve had, there’s nothing we’d all like more than to head to a Pride event to celebrate love and the LGBTQ+ community.

However, due to COVID regulations, many Pride events in 2021 have either been cancelled or postponed until later in the year. The absence of this usual June celebration for the second year in a row has left a hole in many people’s summer plans.

Here at BeautyPro, we want to help you celebrate Pride your own way this June. Take the elements of Pride that you love and bring them into your home, garden, local bar, park or bedroom - wherever you can celebrate. Your own Pride can’t be cancelled!

In this blog, we’ll help you to plan and prep the ultimate Pride celebration. From themes, to costumes, to cocktails, we’ve got it covered!

Stage 1: Planning your event

The first decision you have to make is how you want to celebrate. Do you want to recreate those Pride parade vibes in your garden? Maybe a bottomless brunch is more your brand? Or perhaps you simply want to spend the day with your closest friends.?

Here’s some ideas to get you started:

Create your own bottomless brunch

Get your faves round and pop the prosecco. It’s everyone’s favourite pastime so let’s make it Pride themed. If you want to be extra, I’m thinking of mimosas every colour of the rainbow - top your prosecco up with different juices to create a colourful combination.

Recreate your favourite prides of the past

Do you have a specific Pride memory that you always reminisce about? Let’s bring it back to life! Think about where you were, who you were with, what were you wearing, what were you listening to. How could you recreate that in your own space?

Throw a costume party

Is any party complete without some bold outfits? Take inspo from iconic Pride floats and embrace the excitement of dressing up. Choose a theme, concept or even just a colour palette and let your guests get creative. Here’s some ideas to get you started: queer icons, the 00s, disco, memes or pop culture.

Have a movie night

If you’re looking for something a little more low key, you could get some friends round and enjoy a movie marathon of your favourite LGBTQ+ films. Grab the popcorn and some snacks, sit back, relax and enjoy the home cinema experience.

Once you’ve decided how you want to celebrate, it’s time to decide who will be joining you. Whether you’ll be inviting your whole contact list or just your closest friends, it’s up to you. Use the day to spend time celebrating Pride with the people in your life who value and love your authentic self.

Optional extras:

  • Chosen a strong theme? Embrace full birthday party vibes and send out physical on brand invitations.
  • Balloons. EVERY Pride party needs balloons. The ultimate insta prop.
  • Invest in a karaoke machine. Picture it now, prosecco in hand performing Madonna on the kitchen table. Pure bliss.

Stage 2: Prep the playlist

No matter your theme, you’re going to need a playlist. LGBTQ+ anthems to form the soundtrack of your day.

Don’t want to create your own? You can use ours!

Stage 3: Create your cocktail list

Cocktails can take a party from zero to hero. A good selection of cocktail ingredients gives your guests something fun to do, as well as making sure they’ll be ready for when the karaoke machine comes out.

Here are some ideas from us:

Rainbow Sangria - The ultimate fruity concoction. You need white wine, triple sec, lime juice, sugar and a selection of colourful fruit (blueberries, kiwis, pineapple, mango, strawberries). In a large jug, mix 1 ½ bottles of wine, 120ml of triple sec, juice of 3 limes and 32g of sugar. In tall glasses, layer your fruit in a rainbow pattern before pouring the wine mixture over the fruit to serve.

Watermelon Vodka Margarita - Refreshing, pink and tasty to drink. Mix Absolut Watermelon Vodka with watermelon juice, lime juice, sugar syrup and orange liqueur. Pop them into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake vigorously. Pour into a glass with a salted rim and garnish with a slice of watermelon.

Cosmobellini - Level up your prosecco with a cosmo. Mix citrus vodka, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, cranberry juice and white peach puree in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled champagne glass, top with prosecco and drink!

Stage 4: Get your glow

The plans are complete. Now to get yourself Pride ready - this all starts with your skin.

Once you’ve cleansed and toned, it’s time to multimask. Choose one of your favourite BeautyPro masks to address any skin concerns and give your skin a boost of hydration. Pair it with an Eye Therapy mask to energise and brighten your eyes. This combination will give you a glowing complexion and the perfect base on which to apply your final makeup look.

We recommend:

Hyaluronic Acid Gold Foil Mask - This shimmering mask is the ultimate party accessory. It’s a luxurious treatment that will hydrate and rejuvenate the skin, ensuring you look fresh and dewy.

Rejuvenating Collagen Mask - This green tea formula will transform the skin in just 15 minutes. It offers anti-ageing benefits and rebalances oily areas to make sure your skin looks firm and pampered.

Brightening Collagen Mask - Get that glow with this Vitamin C mask. You’ll look fresh faced and rejuvenated in no time. Radiant skin is the best outfit of them all.

Stage 5: Support your local LGBTQ+ charities and spaces

In this blog we’ve given you plenty of ideas to have the perfect at home Pride celebrations, and while this is all fabulous for 2021, we still have to be mindful of how pandemic restrictions have impacted on our usual Pride plans and all of the organisations who make them happen.

During the COVID-19 pandemic due to the cancellation of events and closure of LGBTQ+ spaces, many of these dedicated establishments and charity organisations have been heavily impacted. While we won’t be able to celebrate Pride with them as normal just yet, it’s important to still show some love to the charities we support and the places we usually frequent during Pride month. Showing support now could help to ensure they’ll always be there for those who need them in the future.

So that’s it - your Pride party is planned and you’re ready to go! We hope you enjoy your celebrations, just know we’ll be with you in spirit.
